Privacy and evidence integrity
Trust isn't an
optional feature.
The people who record journeys, appear in footage and rely on decisions informed by evidence deserve a responsible approach to how that information is handled. Privacy, transparency and accountability are central to the BLKBOX development philosophy.
Our principles
Clear choices. Responsible evidence.
Private by design
BLKBOX Drive is designed around personal journey recording, with deliberate choices about whether and when footage is shared.
Purposeful professional access
Professional evidence workflows are being developed around defined purposes, appropriate permissions and clear responsibilities.
Evidence you can trace
Studio aims to connect analytical findings to their underlying sources, helping users understand what was recorded, where it came from and how it has been interpreted.
Personal control
Recording isn't the same as sharing.
Using a dashcam should not automatically make your journey footage available to another organisation.
BLKBOX distinguishes personal recording from voluntary evidence contribution.
When a driver chooses to participate in a relevant evidence-gathering initiative, the process is intended to make the purpose of the submission, the recipient and the use of the material clear.
Sharing is a choice, not a condition of using Drive.

Responsible intelligence
Better insight starts with better practice.
Information becomes more valuable when people can understand its origin, context and appropriate use.
BLKBOX is developing its professional evidence workflows with attention to access controls, provenance, transparency and the responsibilities involved in handling real-world observations.
The objective is to make road intelligence useful while maintaining the confidence of the people who contribute to it and the professionals who rely on it.
Questions about our approach?
Better evidence deserves trust.
We welcome questions about our evidence workflows and governance arrangements.
